Condor
The keeper of great transitions
Nature of the condor
The condor is one of the largest birds on earth. Almost without a wingbeat it glides over the Andes, carried by winds no one can see. In the Andean world it is regarded as a messenger between this world and the realm of the ancestors. It feeds on what has come to an end – and so transforms death into new life.
Inner attitude
The condor trusts. It doesn't fight the air, it lets itself be carried by it. It stays calm when things end, and knows that every end carries a beginning within it.
The essential qualities
- serene
- trusting
- transforming
- ancient
- connected with the ancestors
It does not hold on to what wants to go.
Meaning
The condor appears when a chapter of your life is coming to an end. It accompanies farewells, upheavals and transitions – and helps you to experience them not as loss but as transformation. What dies nourishes what wants to come.
Voice of the being
«Let go of what has completed its circle. The wind carries you – trust it.»
Encounter & working together
You meet the condor in moments of transition: on birthdays, at the turn of the year, after a farewell. Light a fire or a candle, give thanks for what was, and hand it over to the wind.
Pay attention to
- where you hold on to something that has already gone
- where an end is actually a beginning
- where you may trust life more
The condor works when you are ready to let yourself be carried.
Essence
I trust the circle of ending and new beginning.
