Bear

The keeper of healing stillness

Nature of the bear

The bear is a being of the earth. It knows the healing plants of the forest, the roots, berries and herbs. In winter it withdraws into its den, rests and dreams – and in spring returns to the light strengthened. In many cultures it is regarded as a great healer and keeper of introspection. Above it shines its constellation, the Great Bear.

Inner attitude

The bear listens to its body. It rests when rest is needed and acts powerfully when the time has come. It is gentle and strong at the same time – and protects what has been entrusted to it.

The essential qualities

  • grounded
  • skilled in healing
  • protective
  • resting in itself
  • powerful

It trusts the rhythm of the seasons.

Meaning

The bear appears when you need to withdraw. It invites you to go inward, to rest and to gather your strength. In the stillness of the den you find answers that remain hidden in the noise.

Voice of the being

«Withdraw in order to come forth strengthened. Your healing power dwells in your stillness.»

Encounter & working together

You meet the bear when you allow yourself rest: in sleep, in dreaming, barefoot on soft forest ground. Lie down on the earth and let it hold you.

Pay attention to

  • where you go beyond your strength
  • where your body calls for rest
  • where you may protect yourself and others

The bear works when you are ready to allow yourself to withdraw.

Essence

In my stillness I gather my strength.
