Renaco
The keeper of embracing strength
Nature of the tree
In Amazonia, renaco is the name for large fig trees that often grow as strangler figs. They germinate high up on another tree and lower their aerial roots to the ground until these become a web of living pillars. Peoples such as the Kukama and the Kichwa see in it a tree with an old, powerful spirit; it is said to bind people firmly together.
Inner attitude
The renaco holds fast. It embraces, entwines, connects. Its strength lies in the persistence with which it sends root after root down to the earth.
The essential qualities
- embracing
- binding
- persistent
- mighty
- interwoven
Many thin roots become one strong trunk.
Meaning
The renaco calls when you are reflecting on your bonds – on what holds you and what constrains you. It teaches the difference between support and clinging and shows how strength grows from connection.
Voice of the tree
«I hold what belongs to me. Examine what you are holding on to.»
Encounter & working together
You meet it where a tree is entwined by roots that fall from the heights to the ground. Look at a web of roots and follow a single root with your eyes from the ground up into the heights.
Pay attention to
- where you are held
- where you hold on too tightly
- where something strong grows from many small steps
The renaco works when you are ready to look honestly at your bonds.
Essence
I hold with love and leave room to breathe.
