Nature of the tree
The remo caspi grows tall and straight in the Amazon rainforest. Its trunk is deeply fluted, as if joined together from many narrow planks. From these flanks the people of the river carved their paddles – hence its name: "paddle tree". Its wood is hard and tough. In Amazonia it is regarded as a teacher tree that gives firmness and protection.
