Piri Piri
The keeper of patterns
Nature of the plant
Piri Piri is a sedge with narrow blades and small root tubers. The Shipibo tend it in their gardens and distinguish many different varieties. The women in particular are connected with it. It is said to help them receive the kené patterns in dreams and visions. It stands for beauty, creative power and the knowledge of the female ancestors.
Inner attitude
Piri Piri is inconspicuous and fine. It grows close to the ground and keeps its knowledge in the tuber. It gives what ripens in silence.

«Listen. The pattern is already within you.»
Encounter & working together
You meet it in the garden and in your dreams. Look at a pattern in nature – bark, leaf, water – and let your hand draw something without thinking.
