Pashaca

The keeper of swift new beginnings

Nature of the tree

In Amazonia, pashaca or pashaco is the name given to several large trees of the legume family. They grow quickly towards the light, often where the forest has opened up after a storm. Their leaves are fine and bipinnate, their seeds ripen in long pods. In Amazonian plant medicine, the pashaca is counted among the trees one learns with.

Inner attitude

The pashaca does not hesitate. Where light falls in, it grows. It accepts the gap that life leaves it.

The essential qualities

  • emerging
  • light-seeking
  • confident
  • light
  • courageous

It grows where something has opened up.

Meaning

The pashaca calls when something has collapsed and you do not know how to go on. It teaches you to see the opening that every loss also brings – and to grow towards the light.

Voice of the tree

«Where something has fallen, light falls in. Grow towards it.»

Encounter & working together

You meet it in clearings and at the edges of the forest, where young trees strive upwards close together. Find a place where a tree has fallen and look at what is growing there anew.

Pay attention to

  • where something in your life is opening right now
  • where you hesitate although the light is already there
  • where an ending wants to become a beginning

The pashaca works when you are ready to see the gap as space.

Essence

I grow towards the light that falls through the opening.
