Noya Rao

The keeper of the flight of light

Nature of the tree

In the language of the Shipibo-Konibo, Noya Rao means «flying medicine». The tree is very rare and hardly described botanically. In Shipibo tradition it is regarded as a tree of light. One story tells of fish that ate its leaves and seemed to rise out of the water. The elders do not understand the flying literally, but as an image of inner transformation.

Inner attitude

Noya Rao is quiet and bright. It does not impose itself. Those who meet it feel vastness and lightness, as if the heart were given wings.

The essential qualities

  • radiant
  • light
  • uplifting
  • truthful
  • rare

It gives light without dazzling.

Meaning

Noya Rao calls when you have grown heavy and lost your upward gaze. It teaches you to find the lightness in yourself again and to follow your inner light.

Voice of the tree

«Become light. Your light knows the way.»

Encounter & working together

You are more likely to meet it in dreams and images than in the forest. At dusk, look up into the treetops and imagine light streaming through the leaves into you.

Pay attention to

  • where you have grown heavy
  • where your inner light is calling you
  • where you would like to rise above the everyday

Noya Rao works when you are ready to let yourself be carried by your light.

Essence

I follow my light and become light.
