Lagarto Caspi

The keeper of the protective skin

Nature of the tree

The Lagarto Caspi is an evergreen tree of the humid forests of South and Central America. Its leaves are glossy, finely and densely veined. Its grey, cracked bark resembles the skin of a lizard – hence its name, «lizard tree». From wounded bark a resin flows that seals the wound. Its wood is firm and durable.

Inner attitude

The Lagarto Caspi wears a rough skin and a calm heart. It takes its time and stays unwavering in sun as in rain.

The essential qualities

  • steadfast
  • protected
  • calm
  • tough
  • self-healing

It closes its wounds by its own strength.

Meaning

The Lagarto Caspi calls when you feel vulnerable and unprotected. It teaches you to give yourself a skin that protects you without closing you off – and to trust your own powers of renewal.

Voice of the tree

«My skin is rough, my inside is calm. Both may be.»

Encounter & working together

You meet it in trees with deeply furrowed bark. Place your hand on rough bark, close your eyes and feel its lines, cracks and warmth.

Pay attention to

  • where you would like to protect yourself
  • where something within you heals by itself
  • where your skin has become too thin or too thick

The Lagarto Caspi works when you are ready to protect yourself well and stay open.

Essence

I am protected and trust my power of renewal.
