Lady's mantle
The keeper of the morning dew
Nature of the plant
Lady's mantle grows in meadows, along paths and high up into the Alps. Its rounded leaves are finely pleated like a protective cloak. In the morning, clear silvery drops gather at their edges and in their centre. The alchemists considered them heavenly water – hence its name Alchemilla. In folk belief it was associated with the mantle of Mary.
