Ayahuma

The keeper of clear protection

Nature of the tree

The Ayahuma grows tall and straight in the Amazon rainforest. Its flowers sprout directly from the trunk, pink and red, with a sweet, heavy scent. Its fruits are large and round like cannonballs and fall to the ground with a dull thud. Its name comes from Quechua and means «head of the spirit». In Amazonian plant medicine it is regarded as a tree of protection.

Inner attitude

The Ayahuma stands upright and unwavering. It holds firm without hardening. Its protection is clear – and still leaves room for blossoming.

The essential qualities

  • protective
  • clarifying
  • upright
  • steadfast
  • grounding

It draws boundaries that preserve life.

Meaning

The Ayahuma calls when you feel unprotected or when too much from outside enters you. It teaches you to draw clear boundaries and keep your head free – so that what is your own can blossom again.

Voice of the tree

«Stand beside me. What does not belong to you may go.»

Encounter & working together

You meet it at its trunk, which blossoms and bears fruit at the same time. Lean your back against a tree, breathe calmly and feel where you end and the world begins.

Pay attention to

  • where you may draw your boundaries clearly
  • where other people's thoughts grow loud in you
  • where you can stand upright again

The Ayahuma works when you are ready to protect yourself.

Essence

I stand clearly in my space and I am protected.
