Arnica
The keeper of the mountain sun
Nature of the plant
Arnica grows on poor mountain meadows and pastures, often high up in the Alps and the Jura. Its golden-yellow flowers glow like little suns, their rays somewhat tousled, and they smell spicy. It needs meagre soil and disappears where fertiliser is used. In many places it has become rare and is protected. In German folk speech it is also called "Bergwohlverleih", mountain well-being.
Inner attitude
Arnica is modest and radiant at once. It grows where it is rough and shines nonetheless. It cannot be tamed.
