Quetzalcoatl
The keeper of the morning star
Nature of Quetzalcoatl
Quetzalcoatl is the feathered serpent of Mesoamerica: his name joins the quetzal, a bird with shimmering green feathers, and coatl, the serpent. Among the Maya he is called Kukulkan. He stands for the wind, the morning star and knowledge: tradition tells that he gave people maize, the arts and the calendar. He connects what is otherwise separate – the sky of the birds and the earth of the serpents.
Inner attitude
Quetzalcoatl is bound to the earth and yet winged. He crawls and flies at the same time. His power is that of a teacher who passes on what he has received.
