Qilin
The keeper of kindness
Nature of the Qilin
The Qilin is a being with hooves, a scaly body and often a single horn – some call it the unicorn of Asia. It walks so gently that it crushes no grass and harms no living being. According to tradition, it appeared before the birth of Confucius. It shows itself when a wise and just person is coming. It stands for kindness strong enough to stay gentle.
Inner attitude
The Qilin is mighty and yet careful. Its strength shows in what it does not harm.

Meaning
The Qilin appears when you believe you must choose between strength and gentleness. It shows you that the two belong together. And it announces that something good is coming into being – often more quietly than you expect.
Voice of the being
«Walk so that the grass rises again. Kindness is the strongest power.»
Encounter & working together
You meet the Qilin in moments of quiet kindness: when someone helps you without expecting anything. Walk across a meadow barefoot or very mindfully and feel how light your step can become.
Pay attention to
- where you grow hard in order to seem strong
- where a small kindness changes a great deal
- where something good arrives quietly
The Qilin works when you let your strength become gentle.
