Phoenix
The keeper of rebirth
Nature of the phoenix
The phoenix is a bird with plumage of gold and fiery red. Greek writers already told of it; its roots reach back to Egypt. At the end of its long life it burns in its nest – and rises rejuvenated from its own ashes. So it became the image of everything that passes away in order to become new.
Inner attitude
The phoenix does not fear the fire. It knows that the end is not the last word. It holds on to nothing that wants to burn – and trusts what comes after.
The essential qualities
- immortal
- glowing
- trusting
- renewing
- radiant
From every ash it rises brighter.
Meaning
The phoenix appears when something in your life is coming to an end – a relationship, a role, an old image of yourself. It invites you not to fight the change, but to go through it. What burns makes room for what wants to become new in you.
Voice of the being
«Let go of what wants to burn. From the ashes you rise anew.»
Encounter & working together
You meet the phoenix in the fire of a candle, in the red of dawn, after a sleepless night. Look quietly into a flame and ask yourself: what in me may come to an end?
Pay attention to
- where you hold on to something that is already past
- where a crisis wants to transform you
- where new strength rises after a loss
The phoenix works when you are ready to go through the fire.
Essence
I let pass what wants to pass, and I rise anew.
