Mythical beings

Naga

The keeper of hidden treasures

Nature of the Naga

The Nagas are serpent beings from the traditions of India and Southeast Asia. They live in springs, rivers and lakes and in a world beneath the earth. They guard water, rain and hidden treasures. A well-known story tells how the Naga king Mucalinda sheltered the meditating Buddha from a storm with his sevenfold hood. The Naga stands for the protective power of the depths.

Inner attitude

The Naga keeps watch without showing itself. It opens its hood where someone needs shelter in stillness.
