Mythical beings

Centaur

The keeper of knowledge

Nature of the centaur

The centaur is half human, half horse: the torso and head of a human on the body of a horse. In Greek legend most centaurs were considered wild and unruly. But one, Chiron, was wise and versed in healing herbs and the stars – he taught heroes such as Achilles. In the sky, the constellation of Sagittarius recalls a centaur with a bow.

Inner attitude

The centaur carries both within: instinct and spirit, wildness and wisdom. It fights neither side, but lets them work together – and then aims clearly.

The essential qualities

  • wise
  • untamed
  • teaching
  • focused
  • whole

Its arrow flies when heart and head agree.

Meaning

The centaur appears when head and body are working against each other in you. It invites you to reconcile your wild nature with your clear mind. And it reminds you that your own wounds can make you a good teacher.

Voice of the being

«Be human and animal at once. Then you will hit your mark.»

Encounter & working together

You meet the centaur under the starry sky, in wide fields, in dreams of running. Walk briskly for a while and feel how your body carries you. Where is your life aiming right now?

Pay attention to

  • where you ignore your body
  • where your knowledge wants to be passed on
  • where you need a clear goal

The centaur works when you are ready to unite instinct and wisdom.

Essence

I unite my wild nature with a clear mind and aim at what is essential.
