Fenghuang
The keeper of harmony
Nature of the Fenghuang
The Fenghuang is the bird of good fortune of China. Its name joins «feng», the masculine, and «huang», the feminine. Its plumage shines in five colours, which in the old teaching stand for five virtues. It alights only on the wutong tree and shows itself, so it is said, only in times of peace and justice. It stands for the harmony of opposites.
Inner attitude
The Fenghuang does not impose itself. It waits until the place is ready. Where it alights, what was separate comes together.
The essential qualities
- graceful
- balancing
- virtuous
- peaceful
- uniting
It shows itself where harmony is possible.
Meaning
The Fenghuang appears when opposites within you or around you are at odds. It invites you to bring the soft and the strong together instead of pushing one of them away. And it reminds you to create a place where beauty can land.
Voice of the being
«Prepare the tree, and I will come. Where there is peace, I may stay.»
Encounter & working together
You meet the Fenghuang in beautiful things: in a feather on the path, in the colours of a sunset, in a moment when everything feels right. Create a small, ordered place for yourself – a corner, a table – and keep it calm and beautiful for a week.
Pay attention to
- where two sides within you are fighting
- where you can make room for beauty
- where peace is already quietly beginning
The Fenghuang works when you prepare a place for harmony.
Essence
I bring together what was separate and make room for peace.
