Mythical beings

from the dreams of the peoples

There are beings you will not find in any forest or on any mountain. They live in stories, in legends and in dreams – and yet they have accompanied people for thousands of years.

Every people knows its own. The unicorn of European legends. The phoenix rising from the ashes. The thunderbird of the peoples of North America. The dragon that guards treasure in Europe and brings rain in China.

They were told by the fire, painted on walls, woven into carpets, sung in songs. Handed down from generation to generation, they have changed – and yet remained the same.

They are images of powers that dwell within us: purity and transformation, courage and wisdom, protection and freedom. When we hear their stories, we remember something we had forgotten.

Perhaps you will meet them in a dream. In a cloud that suddenly has wings. In a fairy tale that has not let go of you since childhood.

Here you will find mythical beings from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Orient – with what tradition tells and what they can show us today.

Listen to their stories. Perhaps you will recognise yourself in one of them.

Which mythical being is with you now?

Become still. Think of what moves you right now – a question, a situation, a feeling. Take a few deep breaths. Then touch the circle and let yourself be shown which mythical being comes to you now.
